It depends on how much you’re willing to educate yourself. Education is the key to all successful investing. I think the average person could have 3–5% in cryptocurrency. If you’re willing to follow the market and learn a lot more, then I think 5–15% of your total portfolio can be in cryptocurrency. If you were to go over 15%, I think you’d need to be an investing professional dedicated to learning the crypto market. You would really need to understand what the concentration is doing to your portfolio.
For most people, their core portfolio asset allocation will still focus around stocks, real estate and bonds. Cryptocurrency is a great asset class to add to your overall mix because it’s a non-correlated asset, meaning it doesn’t react the same as stocks to market events.
